S60 '17 - beam controls panel & main beam notworking/stuck
hi, I have a Volvo S60 D4, 2017, and I recently gave it to a carwash. Not sure if it happened at the carwash, as I noticed it later, but main beam/flash and the controls on left bottom are not working. (out of context they also broke the mirror lol)
I can't flash or activate main beam. The controls on left panel; brightness, back fog lights, trunk button, gas lid button, lights selection, do not work at all. Fortunately lights were stuck on auto so beams are working in dark. My first guess was a fuse, but called the repair shop and they said they probably need to change the whole panel thing and costs around $150. Earliest they can take a look is more than a week later. Does anyone know what could be the issue here, with the details I provided? Because I will need to travel to somewhere soon and don't feel safe without main beams/flash. I searched on the internet but unfortunately no one had this exact issue, in their case flash was working but it was not "getting stuck". If it's a blown fuse, can you tell me which one it is, so I can replace? One more thing, how would I open the gas lid when the button is broken? Thanks very much! p.s sorry if there's wrong terminology, I'm not a native speaker, but hopefully you can understand Last edited by sbite; Nov 14th, 2021 at 13:28. |

My first thought is that they've power washed the sills and door reveals with the door open and have got water in the switch unit. I'd remove it and allow it to dry out. Maybe the unit can be unplugged and you can take in inside to dry out properly. It's possibly linked with the stalk and hopefully the problems are in the switch unit and the stalk is fine.

I hope this helps, on the xc60, there is a panel inside towards the rear that when removed, exposes a plastic pull that open the fuel filler cover. Maybe you have the same on the S60

thanks for answers guys, I removed the cover on trunk and can open the gas lid. I checked "light controller" fuse and it wasn't visibly blown. I removed the module, tried unplugging it and plugging back in, still didn't work. I'm gonna try drying it, if it doesn't work I'll check if there's power and order a replacement unit. will update this thread. thanks a lot!
