Default Cambelt etc change

Hi, I have a 2014 D4 XC60 that has only done 50,000 miles. When I took it for a service I was told that the belts and associated parts need changing as the car is over 6 years old. As I think the service interval for these parts is 108,000 miles or 6 years, what do I do. This is an expensive job.

If the recommendation is 6 years or 108,000 miles, then if you are exceeding either one of these then you are risking failure of the component, and the associated damage caused on failure. It could well be OK beyond this, but this is the recommendation, so it's up to you how lucky you feel.

With regard to expense, if you've went to a main dealer, this will obviously be the most expensive option.
So it's worth shopping about and getting a few quotes, at either an independent specialist or a competent garage.

they are telling lies ,
the cambelt is 108000 miles or 10 years which ever comes first . ( 5 cylinder engine)

What IS vital is that the Aux belt is changed at every 54000 miles though , didn't they tell you about that? tensioner for it is changed later with the cambelt when the Aux belt will be changed again ...
