  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

Default Petrol smell from exhaust

My 244 b21A with single SU carb has a fuel smell from the exhaust. Also turning the mixture adjustment screw on the carb seems to have no effect - I'd expected to hear the engine tone change. Therefore I think I'll take the carb off and send it for rebuild. Does that sound right to you guys? I'm far from an expert, if you think you know better please advise.

The smell suggests it is running rich

What have you been adjusting?

You might just have a sticking float, might just need a needle and jet replacing. The only thing that usually warrants sending them off for is a worn spindle
