Anyone watching Guy's Garage on channel 4? Just ruined a very saveable saloon. Found it frustrating to watch.

I agree, it was quite a good programme. I'm guessing the saloon was sold for spares (and I rather suspect for more than £1,200).

Entertaining TV but not real. I mean, surely he knows the difference between a flex plate and a flywheel?
The actual racing looked fun

The car was on the open market, why didn't you buy it?

Well it would have stopped it going to a moron and a vandal, to use your words.

...or it might just have continued to moulder away in the corner of a yard, more likely.

I think it was rather unfortunate that they "dumbed down" the idea of a gearbox swap as even I know it's not just a case of unbolting one box bolting in the other and you're good to go and Guy Martin is a heck of a lot more clued up mechanically than I am! Apart from that I found the programme enjoyable[could be biased though as quite a fan of his from his racing days]
Now that Amazon estate of his, there's a machine to behold!

Quite right, Guy is a well accomplished man in a lot of ways. The gearbox swap was made very light of, I thought that too.
