SIM Card
The 12 month Vodafone data plan that came on the installed SIM with my new XC40 has just run out.
Does anyone if it it can be replaced with a normal SIM card or does have to be a specific data only SIM? Thanks

You need a Data only Sim, a lot of people on here, including myself, use the one from 3. 24 gb with 2 year life. Was available from Amazon for £34 last week but gone up to £45 now. You could use your phones data temporarily until the price drops again which it could do before Christmas or early next year.

Thanks.
To be honest I am not sure I believe that a normal SIM wont work. A data only SIM is exactly the same card its just only got data on it. I want to use a SKY card as I have a huge amount of data in rollover so it would cost me next to nothing. I have had a look on the SKY forum and there are lots of people on there saying they use them in their cars. Will give a go I think. Nothing to lose

For anyone interested I can confirm that a normal SIM card does work and does not need to be data only.
Now using a Sky SIM for £4.50 a month with 2GB a month data and I can use all my rolled over data from our other Sky SIM cards. Result!

Should a new XC40 (uk) come with a SIM card in the unit in the boot? There isn't one in mine, so have Volvo stopped handing these out with new cars?

all SIM's are the same, it just depends what package you pay for.
Unless you're going to use any streaming downloads or similar, I've used a free 200Mb a month SIM from 3 for the last couple of years in my S90 without problems.
