It obviously makes sense that the tailgate of a 7 seater estate should logically be treated to the same opening and closing MOT requirements as a conventional passenger access door.
However, although I note the stated requirements which takes in these catch-all opening and closing requirements and applies them to a luggage-only storage section of the car, it must be admitted that that requirement does not make logical sense for a simple boot - unless the driver has a habit of locking the mother in law in the boot! Of course, if he/her did, there isnt normally any inside release mechanism for luggage-only boots, or indeed tailgates. Incidentally, we take it that 7 seater conversion tailgates do have internally operating opening devices -? |

Yes - an internal handle is included in the 7-seaters.

My V70 isn't a 7 seater but still has an internal handle in the 'boot', (and yes I just had to go and look ) in the past I sold the boot seats from an 850 which now made me wonder if the buyer had an internal handle, presumably they did.
