C70 Solstice Alloy Wheel
Long time lurker – first time poster!
I am looking for a single 18" Morpheus Alloy wheel for my 2011 c70 - It has just failed its MOT on being not round and now I have to find a new one in 6 days before a planned holiday in Cornwall! Alternatively has anyone had a wheel "straightened" (or curved!) before? would you recommend? The information on this forum has helped me so much in the last 6 years - when looking to buy and with all the little bits of information I've needed through ownership so hoping you lovely people can help me out again! Thanks!! |

I bashed the alloy of the wife’s V60 last weekend, big pothole, big dent, took it to a repair specialist and they said it couldn’t be repaired because the alloy was split, otherwise it would have been repaired.
They do this by heating up the bent area With a welding flame, then they have a machine that pushes it back into place. I didn’t have time to chase around so I had to purchase a new alloy from Volvo. £340 +Vat £408 ffs Then to kick me when I’m down, I went to get the old wheel out of the car this afternoon and noticed the valve was missing. Called the wheel people and the Idiot at the wheel repair place said he cut it off. Great that’s the pressure sensor although he says it wasn’t. Not sure how my tyre pressure monitor will work now. That one is ongoing but my advice would be to try scrap yards and be careful with the sensor. |

Hi Dinobug 77
Try Volvo/Saab breakers in Nottingham or perhaps PXWheels in Lancs. Get contact numbers on Google. Good luck Fred |

Just had the brand new alloy fitted, all sorted now.
Good luck with yours. If not split you may be ok I used The wheel specialists in cwmbran, there’s one in bristol but looks like Swindon branch is closed. |

It seems the valve issue was a red herring.
Modern Volvo cars use the ABS to monitor tyre rotation, thus picking up changes when tyre is deflated. All is good now standard valve replaced. |

I drove around on my winter wheels (which are steel btw) on that axle until it was done. EDIT: the reason it had to be fixed was same as yours: it was not round. Probably hit a pothole or something... |
