Default Reduced braking efficiency

Hi folks

I have noticed a couple of times now, after playing with Billy go fast or Mr Beamer etc, that my braking has turned to oop:, pedal is hard but harder to slow down, so heat is a factor, its also how quickly they go like this, I only get a few goes on the braking (prob 3 or 4 corners on a track and I would be screwed after that lol), I know I need new discs due to scoring, I assume previous owner let the pads get far too low, but I don't think that's the cause of even part cause, perhaps the pads? currently half worn at present, obvs i would change them with the discs, should I opt for a flush through at my local garage? Theres only me so I cant bleed them myself....

Hi have a look at a Gunson G4062 Eeezibleed kit - it's designed to make bleeding brakes a one man job. Give the bleed nipples a repeated careful soak in release agent first as it's often the case they are seized on place and can break if you are too assertive.
Cheers

John

Those bleed kits are a life saver! But for the love of god remember to let some air out of the spare wheel first!

There is a Sealey pressure bleeder which I highly rate, about £40 from memory you connect to the reservoir, fill the bottle with fluid then pump it up. Then crack each corner at your leisure and behold the stream of manky fluid coming out

Hi.
I follow your posts with interest and sometimes amusement.
Good on You . Keep them coming.
I don`t want to add to your list of recent woes but have you checked the servo for a leak ? Any hissing or popping sounds to be heard ?
As you`ve said yourself, the discs and pads are low and the system could do with a service. This will probably sort it but the servo seal is a known weak point.

Yea I may have blown a cap off... I think they recommend something like 20psi if I remember correctly.

When I replaced my front flexible, I let the master volume get too low and air got into the ABS module. Had weak brakes afterwards - Volvo can bleed the unit by activating the solenoids through Vida while using a pressure bleeder

I have had a gunsons eezee bleed for years and has served me well, however I bought the sealy pressure bleed last year and its well worth the money. No faffing around with connecting to your spare wheel and having to pump it up again. If you get one, just remember to pump it up slightly before connecting to the master cylinder so as you can bleed the bleeder and avoid introducing air into your master cylinder.
As someone else has mentioned, just make sure that all the bleed nipples can be loosened before starting as they are notorious for seizing up.

Ha, ya welcome, its easy when ya don't know diddly lol I can easily hear hissing when I put me foot on the brake, it sounds louder than I would expect and its coming from the pedal area, other than that, not popping or other sounds that I've noticed from the system.....

Thanks guys, with the sealey one, do you crack each corner separately or all together, I'm not sure if my small 2T jack is strong enough to put the car onto 4 axel standssaying that, I have 2 jacks now so maybe with both doing 1 side it may work it, but I have a feeling you mean it still only 1 corner at a time regardless of system used?, it was the "crack each corner at your leisure" that threw me a little lol
