Default Phase 2 1.9 diesel timing belt kit and water pump query

My phase 2 V40 1.9 diesel is now at 175,000 miles and going well, I'd like to keep it that way.

The timing belt was last changed at 126,000 miles so I'm figuring to change it now in good time.

Local motor factors can supply INA, Gates and Contitech kits, and I can source SKF and other brands online if needed. SKF kit comes with a water pump.

Gates comes with a water pump whilst the others don't but the motor factors can supply a Metelli pump.

I plan on keeping the car for another few years so don't mind spending a bit to keep it going well.

From reading on the forums, folks recommend for the Volvo engines not to change the water pump but as this is a Renault engine, I'm guessing that doesn't apply?

Posts online seem to suggest that INA are involved in supplying Volvo with OEM parts, and being tied up with FAG, should be of decent quality, similar to SKF.

Any thoughts on the above selection? I've priced Volvo parts and they are coming in at twice the price.

Timing belt for the 1.9D is every 6 years or every 72,000.

The water pump is Renault one, so yes, ideally I would replace it. INA is fine. Keep an eye for a Renault kit too. I managed to get a complete kit including water pump for £40 which was not a bad deal

Gates is fine too. Never heard of Meteli, so can't really comment

Ok, so may have a bit more time, I thought the interval was 60,000 miles.

Would you have a link to the kit you got or a supplier? If it's OEM quality, hard to argue with that price.

Gates belts are generally considered to be very good, but watch out for counterfeits...https://www.gatestechzone.com/en/pro...cation-general
so buy it from a reputable source !!

I used Volvo kit with the discount from FRF, and an aftermarket branded (Bosch?) pump from Euro Car Parts.
