I reported a faulty comms module a while back. Actually, I'm now on my third one.

Car collected last night, new comms module fitted and the app connected almost instantly.
Next job to set up the app and sort the wifi settings.

Glad to get it sorted, hopefully won't be back at the dealers again until service time, fingers crossed!
But thanks to Marshall Leeds for their help.

During the handover, the car would not connect to the VOC app, we tried numerous times, but no luck. A technician also tried, but again the problem remained. So I left for the 3 hour trip home slightly disappointed, with the salesman promising to contact my nearest dealer to get the car booked in to see what the problem was.
Car is booked in with local dealer early next week for investigation.

Over the last few days I have deleted and reinstalled the app, re entered the PIN and VIN and checked the sim is correctly inserted, still the same problem. Guessing now that it is a software issue, have any of you experienced this with your vehicles?

Not the start to Volvo ownership I was hoping for, fingers crossed it will be swiftly resolved.

Dave
I got my activation code from the dealer I don't use the car sim i tether it through
my phone.

So there really is (still) something wrong with these modules!

Here's the offending item. Looks like a complex double-sided board with a surprising number of SMCs. It's probably something you don't want to fail outside of warranty

Thanks Lexman, that does look like it could be expensive out of warranty. Hopefully we won't find out!

Bought my 66 plate XC90 on 3rd March. Same issue as you describe with the VOC not activating. Tried everything I could find, and during this noticed there was a 45Gb map update and the Nov 2017 software update to do. Really annoyed as bought from Volvo Dealer Maidenhead and these should have been done in the week between paying my deposit and collecting.

Took it back on the following Wednesday. Was told 2 hours to fixed, so I waited in the showroom. 3.5 hours later and updates done, but still no VOC. Was then told they’ll need it for a day or two, and will be given a V40. Booked in for the 21st. I drove away fuming.

The next day, I got the standard “how did we do” email from the dealer group HQ. So I unleashed a little. Now I’m getting an XC90 loaner, they are picking up from my house, and they are going to stick the CarPlay upgrade on for half price.

Will mention to them that they should try replacing the module.
