Might be worth checking your PCV system though

While working on my brakes I noticed a discolored patch of underseal on the rear chassis rail about 3cm square. I poked it with a screwdriver and eventually after a few hours of cutting all the rust out I ended up with a hole about 12cm long and 4cm high.
So yeah check your chassis rails guys.. my car is pretty rust free everywhere else! |

Mmm, certainly food for thought there. I sent Tank off for a weeks pampering a few years back. An ex-pat mec who did front shocks springs and bushes and was going to have his mate weld very similar looking rusty points as in these pics.
When I collected, the suspension stuff was all done, but the welder had only cleaned up then tack welded plates over the small holes he claimed his equipment was on the blink, but as I had given the mec' a budget to work on I don't think the money was there....... The whole underside was waxoyled and once home I emptied a can a side through the tack welds, then sealed with 'instant metal' and hammerited (red). It still looks the same today as it did when I'd done, but I bet the dreaded tin-worm is down there doing its stuff! Cracking write up John
