Just to share my experiment
I was looking for a 123 GT tach for a 52 mm to put on my dash pad, as they are near impossible to find I bought a cheap 52 mm tach to see if I could at least make a resemblance of the GT, the result was not that good and the tach performance is useless! The other thing that I did in order to connect the original (in cluster) coolant temp gauge replaced by Huke Basart electric, as well as a mechanical gauge was to manufacture a T, which turned out way too big to accommodate the probe of the mechanical gauge, so probably will never be used either. At least is a healthy and entertaining way of spending retired time! Cheers |

This is what I did when I wanted a tacho. Not the neatest of jobs I am afraid.

Mike;
Here is what I have (as a member of the LHD club)...an 1800 Tach in the arch to the right of Instrument Cluster (recovered Dash), and V/A meter on a little catch-all panel which takes the place of Lighter: Cheers |

I used a TIM tacho that has the general aesthetic of the Smiths/volvo gauge
There is a really good thread on the forum for an oil gauge. Do a search, you will need a short T piece to retain oil pressure light and gauge. Coolant temp, you could tap the cover plate at the front of the head. good luck |

BigBunt, I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for, but if you have or find an old Smith's tachometer, Nysonger Instruments can rehab it for you. They refurbished a cable driven tachometer for me.
