Default S40 so under rated

Just had a brand new vauxhall corsa through work for 2 days. Absolute pig. Yes it had auto wipers, Sat Nav, cruise and a heated steering wheel, but gosh was it slow (lost 20mph on M1 inclines) and uncomfortable.

Wished I could have used the S40 for the journeys - at least I would have been comfortable and had power.

You miss what the S40 has to offer when you have to do without it.
Would much rather have a more reliable older S40 than a new car!

They don't make them like they used to, newer cars have loads more electrical items which cost money to develop and put in, this means they have to cut corners elsewhere and the actual electrical items that they do fit need to be as cheap as possible. If you think back to your first car I bet it was just a basic car and you were happy it had wheels, an engine, some seats and a roof!

Also newer cars will be down on power as they are being smothered due to all the emission laws there are....errr to cut down on emissions perhaps buy a used car so you don't have to spend the energy on building a new one?

yeah totaly agree, also i say the more electrical gizmos they put in a car its just more things to go wrong, when i first saw the renault laguna that tells you the tyre pressure, i thought it sounded good, a mate has one and the sensors in each wheel are £75, pluss they have to be calibrated each time the wheel is removed from the car or a new tyre is fitted...........no thanks
