Thanks to Colin
Thanks to Colin for the settings
I have been down this trail before I havn't got a microswitch on mine but the adjustments work just fine . It seems if the throttle plate is open to much the engine hunts when started but when warmed up it is ok obviously the tickover is compensated by the air screw being screwed further in. I have checked all the hoses and there are definitly no air leaks but when its adjusted to the book no days tickover (and tickover speed) is the same? running from smooth to very rough! I have replaced everything from the fuel pump to the ignition amplifier checked the timing belt and valve clearance but still the b*****d thing refuses to behave its self and shudders when waiting at lights or in traffic jams 'though its never let me down. Am I paranoid and should I just cure the problem by pretending not to notice and just watch the pretty girls cross the road?? |

RE: Thanks to Colin
My last Volvo was a 1981 240GLE with B21E enigine that had a similar problems. Cleaning the air flow sensor plate helped as it used to get covered with oil and so was a little heavier than it should be. Renewing the injector seals (8) was also helpful. I replaced both fuel pumps; same problem continued.
My local dealer looked at it and contacted Volvo tech support, who had come across one previous similar case. They suggested fitting the B28E Control Pressure Regulator. Problem fixed. Yours is a later model so I don't know if you have a CPR on yours. Bob _____________________________ Robert Isaac Volvo Owners Club Director and Web Admin |
