Default 05 v50 clutch problem

sorry for non mechanic descriptions!
there is a plastic collar where the clutch linkage connects to the pedal. after a week of use this collar twists somehow and the pedal gets closer to the floor and gear changes become very sticky, sometimes refusing to go in to first.
If i twist this collar so that it is tight then everything is more or less ok - still not a massive amount of travel but ok
can anyone shed any light on this?
I cant see close enough behind the pedal to see what is going on

Thanks

The plastic master cylinder fits into the pedal box by a turning action much like fitting a mains lightbump into its socket , maybe you need to turn it a but more to secure it .. maybe the cylinder or pedal box is broken so it will no longe rlock .. Its a horrible job , the clutch pedal bracket has to come out to get the cylinder out . It might be a good idea to get both out to see whats going on ... be prepared to buy a new master cylinder or clutch pedal bracket ... There is a special tool to turn the master cylinde to lock it in .. it can be done by hand after lubricating the rubber washer on the back of the master cylinder otherwise you will cut your hands , you will probably do that anyway!

It's a HORRIBLE ford idea ..
