Depending upon the quality setting you select, Spotify data use is approximately:

• Normal quality 45 MB/hour
• High quality 72 MB/hour
• Extreme quality 145 MB/hour

Note: MB = Mega Bytes, Mb = Mega bits.

So, 3.5 hours per week in the car would use ~160 MB per week or ~640 MB per month at Normal quality or ~1GB per month at High quality.

However, Spotify will automatically cache tracks you listen to so they are not repeatedly downloaded. Since several GB of data can be cached your actual data use will be less (unless you never listen to the same track again).

Sounds like you will be sent a FOC Sim that will end up being a PAYG........once you have started using it

I installed the sim. It went in the boot right at the back, which was a bit of a faff. I set it up in sensus and received a text message from three. There was no internet connection though so I may have to do the phone/car wifi hotspot thing. The sim packaging does say 200mb free and ready to go, so I'm not sure why it didn't work, unless it takes a short while to activate.

Reading the packaging in more detail it does say to do so, however despite activating the car hotspot and connecting to it, attempting to go to three.co.uk/freedata just says I have no internet connection. I enabled my phone connection and the page loaded. Went back to the car hotspot and tried refresh page and it's no data again. I have tried with chrome and Samsung browser.

Could it be something to do with my phone?

I had exactly the same problem. I ended up putting the sim in the phone to activate instead.

I have an old Nokia 6100 so will see if I can use that, otherwise I will have make it a micro sim despite the car taking a full sized sim. Then what do I do? Tape it back together?

EDIT: Forget all that. Just went on live chat with three and hopefully it should be active fairly shortly.
