Just a quick question guys, are Ex police T5`s in the same state of tune as T5`s sold to the Gen`Public? or are they played with ?

They are totally standard under the bonnet. They did have different (stronger?) wishbones and 'police spec' brake pads though. I believe the wishbones are the same as those fitted to the 850 TDI looking at a few pictures.

They also have stronger springs on the back because of the weight they carry. The only difference in the pads is a wear indicator. They also use a higher boiling point brake fluid.

i would certainly think twice about buying an ex plod car...as whould you really want a car that does a circa 24 hour shift..i mean a crew go out in it drive it like a tank (and the guys dont look after them they are a tool and the worse use would be to ram a fleeing car off the road)..it goes back to garage has a wash then out it goes again, also now a days forget about the above par servicing as them days have gone as garages these days have budgets to keep, the only car i would by is the ex cheif constables car that one is looked after

total rubbish ,whats wrong with a car being used 24/7 ?? far better than one which is used for short journeys most of the time, ex plods can be great buys if your carefull just do your homework

Bit unfair to say those comments are total rubbish, they are riskier buys than your average car and tend to be absolutely poverty spec but then again they're generally much cheaper too.

You pays your money......

I think Police Volvo cars are serviced every 6000 mls. They will have a full service record anyhow.

You may also find most of them smoked (before the ban), both front seats heavily worn, wistling turbos, poverty spec and various drill holes.

Of course, all this can be fixed and a test drive is the best bet.

(a friend once had a poverty spec 850 T5 auto. Only way to tell it was a T5 was the alloys! Suprised boyracers at the red light!!).

There's a place that does ex-police cars near me.
Prices certainly look good.

Their dog cages would be handy for the M-I-L!
