Triumphman - Factor in providing the labour yourself, using some pre-loved parts and some new where necessary and it suddenly becomes do-able! I suspect that's what NI_volvo_Nut meant. If you really want to line the pockets of your local spanner wielding, barbados holidaying, $tealer then do, but I don't.
RAW, it's got to be worth fixing - she looks far too good to break.

she is definatly too good to break, but in the current economy, and with mom on a very limited income, cutting our losses might be the only way to go. i agree though, and will have the head off to see if the pistons and bores look ok. expect photos shortly, as i will need expert opinions i'm sure!
if the bottom end is no good, then i expect this car will have done its last mile unfortunatly! now to get her a nice reliable 940 petrol lol. Richard |

Timing belts and water pump I got for mine for around £70, a headset I cant imagine being any more than £100, and I'd like to think someone would fit a new cyl head for around £100, I know I would.

how much would you want for the full engine if it is functioning? if the bottom end is damaged on ours, then i might be interested.

no idea, and as yet i'm unsure of the state of the bottom end, so dont know if it will be going back on the road. i know i may annoy some people by saying this, but unfortunately i wont have a chance to find if it will be being broken until the 25-26th of september! until then i will be at college, and wont have an opportunity to come home to finnish removing the head. unfortunately this will also mean a wait for you NiNut, as i wont know till then if i need the head.
thanks all for the interest, and you can be sure that if your still interested and we decide to break it you will have first pick of the parts that you need. Richard |
