Default Information please

Whilst checking my battery I discovered a secondary battery tucked away under the the plastic cover to the left of the main battery, (2012 xc60 D5). As my stop/start has stopped working, what is this secondary battery for? And would it have a bearing on the stop/start? How do I get it out?
Thanks in advance

IIRC, the small auxiliary battery is for powering ancillaries when stop start has activated (radio, fan, lights etc).

If your stop start has stopped working, it will highly likely be your man battery which needs replacing. They are about £140 from the main dealer and generally more expensive elsewhere.

Did the button pushing trick and I’m working all round even the stop/start. Was about to buy new battery. So a huge thankyou to who contributed to posts about batteries
