I was able to get a response from Cheshired5 re the Dice/Vida - Thx Cheshired5

Price not the cheapest, but i suspect very reasonable if the support is good, which it appears to be, and i'd be willing to shell out, however lead time of 3 weeks...dang! My (anti skid) error is currently active so need sooner than later. Can you do any sooner Cheshired5?

Any other suggestions, or known good sellers on ebay for this item? (Maybe I should just be patient for once) Im pretty good with setting up the laptop so should be fine there (or have I just jinxed myself).

Alternative is to go to my local indy, which might not be a bad thing in any event as I am suspecting the twitchy steering, having driven a few more miles, may actually be some worn bushes / ball joints / rod ends given the way it wanders if I touch a white line or rutt, so defo needs a good look underneath. Can then check/reset fault mamaries at same time

Default ABS Service Message

I got this message up about 6 months ago . It first appeared when I drove over a mini-roundabout, disappeared by cycling the ignition off and on. The second time was a similar occurrence , but this time it stayed on longer, and eventually it became a permanently lit message.

As I had a major event that weekend (isn't timing always an issue!) I needed to know it would not go into limp home mode so I put it into my local indie , who diagnosed a faulty brake pressure sensor. (there are 2 which are mounted under the ABS unit in the nearside of the engine compartment)

Not cheap at £200+ apiece , but we couldn't source any pattern parts within the time frame so I bit the bullet and had both replaced as a precaution. He said that there had been a spate of these failures recently at around the 100k miles mark.

As I plan to keep the car for another 10 years (or until we are all forced into hybrids or fully electric) I saw it as an investment in reliability for the future.

@spudd that is very kind thank you. I will keep this in mind.

So quick update: Just had the guys at Avalon take a look, great bunch, very friendly and accomodating. Put on the Dice/Vida - Throwing up steering angle sensor, reset, immediately returned on driving from machine to ramp.

They checked suspension over, main thing that was found was lower wishbone bushes gone soft. Would explain exactly what i was feeling. The tech also took car for drive and agreed it did not feel right.

So course of action is to do angle sensor, and replace lower wishbones, and do tracking. Maybe even tyres. Going to cost a few quid but nothing i didnt expect.

So my decision now is about whether to repair myself, or consider paying for repairs for the first time in my life, given winter is here and I dont really fancy doing these on the floor.

OK so a brief update on this. The error is still showing, although no remedial work has be done this far.

However, I now have some Lemforder lower control arms that arrived a couple of weeks back, from Autodoc. £110 total for left and right arms, and a NS outer CV boot including shipping!! I will get these fitted, then just the steering angle sensor to deal with.

My decision now is do I brave the cold and fit these arms and boot myself, or indulge in the luxury of paying someone to fit? Not sure I fancy it if im honest but I saved a bunch on the price of the parts.

Hi Pupley, it is 5 years since your last post on this one but since I seem to have a similar issue with XC70 2007 (early) I was curious to know if you resolved that in the end, and if so how?!
Cheers,
Forty
