Breaking V40 T4 phase 1 interest check only
I pick up my new to me V60 today and it looks like I will never get around to repairing the corrosion on the rear arches of my T4 so just an interest check on what i would be likely be able to recoup by breaking her. The engine and box are in great order and had a recent cambelt change on the engine, still drives lovely with plenty of power and massive service history. It has smoked headlights, eggcrate grill, genuine strut brace and I have a spare set of BBS alloys. Please don't contact me to say you need a switch or other small parts as that will not make my decision to break her. There are some pics in my profile from 2016 but she has deteriorated a bit since then and had the brace and lighting added since. Also, there are 4 brand new Rainsport 3's on the car having travelled less than 300 miles since fitting. |

Would definitely be interested in the lights, do you have any pictures?
Edit - just realised it's a phase 1, are those twin lights the same as the phase 2s?

Unless it's rotten as in unMOTable, then why not sell it as a runner that needs work?

2nd what clarkey1984 says, it's a shame to break a T4 when they're getting rarer by the day.
At least post up a couple of pics of the rear arches etc so a prospective buyer would know what they're letting themselves in for. FWIW I got £185 scrap for my V40 1.8 two weeks ago so you can benchmark your dead T4 against that if you decide to go down that route (but please, don't).

Unfortunately she needs a full rear arch and repair to the other, MOT failed on both. My original aim was to do the repair by replacing one side with a full new arch and repairing the small area on the other side but as it has sat on the drive for 2 years now, I came to the conclusion that I will never get around to doing it.
I have removed all the skirt trims and the sills are fine but has unearthed corrosion to the front wings which are easily repairable or replaceable. I know it is a shame to break it but that way it would help keep others on the road. I will certainly not be scrapping it and that was why I put out the interest check to recoup some pennies and also help anyone on the forum who needs parts to keep theirs on the road. Mechanically she is really strong so it would be worth me doing the bodywork and my intention was to get it sorted through the summer so it was ready to survive winter, unfortunately winter is now upon us. Sorry P156KWJ, I would sell the headlights which came off a phase 2 but only when I have sold off items like the engine, box, turbo etc. as from there, there would be no turning back. Feel free to kick my butt, it might make me get it into gear and get her sorted out! |

That's understandable don't worry, I'd rather see it a runner in honesty! I repair bodywork for a living, although unfortunately on buses and coaches, which are a pretty different ballgame. I'd make you an offer and look at getting the work done, but I don't really have the time or suitable space unfortunately! Best of luck though whatever you decide to do...
