My phone has fallen inside the housing and I can't reach it!
How do I get the central console around the handbrake off my 740 please? It is dark and I can't see any screws or clips to undo.
I know it sounds really stupid and girly, but in a moment of insight I tucked my phone into the slot just above the handbrake and pulled some of those hairy bits over it so it didn't show. When I got back to the car I pulled of the handbrake and Clunk! now my phone is out of reach and bleeping pitifully because it has a low battery. Why oh Why didn't I use the glove compartment. Stupid I know! I could just feel it with my fingers and plled it half way up but then it dropped further. Now when I get that console off I know there is a pound copin under there too! But can anyone give me a clue as to where the fixings are - and if it will ever go back the same. Laugh if you like but, please help me in my dizzy blond moment. Thanks! |

The black bit of the console should come away with some gentle persausion after removing its fixing screws (Situated in the depression between the handbrake and the gearlever). It also helps to remove the ashtray and the plastic bit it sits on, which just clip into the radio console.
Be assured that if you are patient and careful, the pieces that you remove will go back as they should

if thats too dificult, ring it so you can see where it is and wrap loads of selotape sticky side out rund something thin and try to stick to it.

Gaffer tape wrapped around a thin piece of wood might be o.k. - it's more sticky than sellotape. But if all else fails the console does indeed come out o.k., though I find that as well as removng the screws it helps to move a seat back.
Best of luck! John Davies
