Gearbox Problem?
Hi
I have a Sept 2001 S40 1.8i (GDi lean burn engine) SE and has now covered 18000 miles. Ever since I bought it (at 11500 miles) the gear change has been very 'notchy' and sometimes when changing into 2nd or 3rd gear the gears crunch. The volvo dealer from whom we bought the car has said that the gearbox on this model can be notchy and that nothing is wrong. However, this problem spoils what is otherwise an excellent car and I feel that the gearbox and or clutch could be the problem. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem on this model, as this may help me to present my case when the car goes in for its 20000 mile service. Thanks. |

RE: Gearbox Problem?
i had problems getting first and reverse on my s40, i feared the worse, as i had heard about gearbox problems.but the outcome of the exercise was that the rubber gear change mounting bushes were shattered, and the gear change module was swinging about like a hammock.
i dont know if this is relavant to you, but its worth a look. paul[4 forty] |
