Hissing sound!

Just checked my app and Remote Start is there. Well I never. Kinda makes the Auxiliary heater less essential although it's probably more efficient for heating but being able to run the aircon in summer will be very useful. It'll be interesting to see if you can have both Remote Start and Pre-Conditioning running at the same time (although why you'd want to...)

I guess having the doors and gearbox locked makes it safe (arguably). So who's gonna be first to use Remote Start while parked on a public road?

Wow, that is fantastic.... Just checked on my iPhone and sure enough the remote start option is there... I've tried it and it worked 2 out of 5 times, starting and stopping the car. The 2 times it didn't work I was connected from by phone via 4G, the two times it worked I was on my house WiFi. I can't see how that should make any difference, and may well not be the cause of it failing twice, but it was the only difference in situation. I also cannot do it again now, as I get the message

'Your Volvo could not be started because it was started remotely two consecutive times. You must restart with a ke....'

Assume that reads key, but its truncated on my phone and I can't see the rest of the message.

I'm slightly sceptical, I really do hope this feature is here to stay, but wonder if its been made available to the UK market in error. It hasn't come as a software update (I've checked and my phone has not updated the app), it must simply be a feature that can be made available to the app 'server side'.

Let's keep our fingers crossed, but I wouldn't be surprised if the feature disappears again.

Good point. I read on Swedespeed that the US were due to get it any day. Maybe we've got it by accident.

Driving back the wiper failure/service warning came on over twenty times, and yes you have guessed it , the car was hissing when I got back to Ripon!!!! And it was when I got home tonight. Well that will have to wait until after my holiday.

The remote start is really good, the service guy had not seen it before. You can start the car and it will run for a preset time upto 15mins, enough time to warm the car up, or cool it down in summer. You cant drive it off whilst its in this mode, (I did try when I jumped in , but the gearlever was locked and wouldn't move.)
When it activates the hazards flash a couple of times ,then car starts as normal.
I did think I would be able to start and unlock it remotely and drive it away, which would be quite cool.
Still a bit fed up that I wasted 4 hours driving around for nothing, might have to look at taking it to Knaresborough, although they didn't show a lot of enthusiasm in trying to sell me a new car after being a loyal service customer for 8 years!

Thanks for the heads up on the remote start, just checked my phone and its there and working, did you try turning the ignition on and putting foot on the brake pedal before trying to get car into gear, there is an inhibitor switch, this worked for me.

Wonder what the car being in supervision means. Maybe if it detects you are too far away it will not work.

I've just realised another possible benefit of Remote Start. It could mean that if the electric heaters (seats, screens, etc), have been set to auto start when cold, they might come on with a Remote Start.

So having Auxiliary heating and Remote Start working together could make sense (if you're a real softy).

I can see a bit of working out to optimise all these options.

The addition of RES would be great. Never really understood why it wasn't available in Europe. Can anyone else confirm they can remote start their car?

Was disappointed to learn it wasn't available in Europe after playing with the demo app

I have tried it and it works.
