When I came back from holiday (after a week) and went to turn on preconditioning I got the same response. A bit ridiculous really after just a week! The reason i got it was to have a toasty warm car after my business trips!

I agree. It's annoying that it won't work after just 3 or 4 days. The times I'd want pre-heat most are in winter after having been away for a week and the car has been standing in a freezing-cold airport car park.

It's hard to believe that the VoC system in the car is going to flatten the battery after such a short time when my mobile phone which has a battery about one fiftieth of the capacity of the car's battery can run for days on standby.

I have a T8 and I cannot start per-conditioning in Winter (Summer is fine): "Park Climate is temporarily not available" . Any idea?

Usual reasons are low battery or low fuel (<10 litres).

Not the case: battery fully charged and tank is full. Temperature is about 12 C. I don't have fuel driven heater (Canada version) and the Parking heater option is not available in VOC app.

I thought Parking Heater uses the extra heater which I don't have and Parking climate uses Heat Exchanger plus heated seat and steeling wheel.

I had this message 3 times in over a year of ownership and I pre-heat every weekday morning for 6 months of the year - basically whenever night temperature is in single digits.
Note I use mine for short local trips (1-3miles) - which is just about the worst for the battery. I have an occasional longer drive on weekends. I suspect you may have battery drain problems - ask your dealer to check. Lots of US cars had problems with battery drain as reported on swedespeed for many reasons.

Even when you can't use pre-conditioning please make sure you enable heater booster in options. It's not the same as a toasty car in the freezing airport but you will have hot air within 30sec of starting the engine, plus heated seats plus steering wheel. Scraping ice? It blows so much hot air pretty much straight away I can't imagine needing a scraper.

Gents in T8s. I would bet good money that 400v battery level is irrelevant. The main reason you have the heater in T8 is to warm that battery up to bring it up to the efficient temperature. Besides it would make no sense for them to put an extra inverter to turn the 400v into 12v to run the heater as webasto works off 12v and xc90 has two 12v batteries.

Just another thought - I am on shell nitro. I wonder if that takes less electricity to burn.

Without the engine running you cannot get any heat unless the auxiliary (fuel) heater is fitted. This option is not available in the US and possibly not Canada either.

I suspect what you have in summer is the ability to blow external air through a warm/hot cabin. In the UK this feature only comes with the auxiliary heater option but you may get it as standard.
