Unlikely, I'd guess that after the initial electrical spark ignition the flame is self-perpetuating.

Parking climate and parking heater are confusing terminology. I havent yet properly understood the difference. My understanding is the same as Lexman. To get any heat when engine off you must have auxilary petrol heater fitted. Heated seats wont come on either if the engine is off.

If US T8s dont have the aux heater then I dont know how they get warm when on battery power as the aux heater runs the heating even when the car is moving and on battery only.

Yes, I'm not sure whether US T8s get the auxiliary heater. However, they do get Remote Engine Start which we don't.

Many other hybrids just rely on running the engine to generate heat when necessary.

Why would it draw so much current to keep going then. Worth a try if you keep having problems.

All T8s get aux heater. It's to get the battery to optimum operating temperature more than the occupant comfort.

I am 97% certain that he is wrong. I've read about T8s extensively and never ever I have heard of a version with no heater.

As well as the normally-on systems (VoC, keyless entry, alarm), some of the car's other systems would have to be woken up for pre-conditioning: the aux-heater ECU, the climate ECU, the cabin fan and the water pump. These would all add up to a decent current draw.

Not if it's broken or there is a bug in the system.
US T8s come with fuel fired heaters.
