Default Paint Protection

Has anyone got paint protection job done on the car?

I checked with my local dealer and its £499 for G3 paint protection.

I think the paint protection will be helpful in longer term and in harsh weather conditions. and chipping

Any views please? is £499 reasonable?

Any idea what product they use?

Might be worth trying to find out and then search the detailing world forums for any info/opinions of the product.

There also seems to be an increasing number of detailing companies in the UK these days too who do paint protection jobs. They often have associations to product manufacturers (like GTechniq for example) who offer paintwork guarantees with the products. Check out the blog / youtube videos for these guys.

Must admit this is an area I don't know too much about but given the amount of motorway miles I do it would be good to get something which would stop the masses of stone chips I get in my cars.

Did you provide the right link here, or was it an accidental copy/paste from your first link to the Detailing Forum?

All car main dealers over charge for paint and seats protection, better to find an independent company to do this at half the price, I dont think it is neccessary with modern cars.

These types of paint protection would not stop your paint from getting chipped as they only really seal the paint and protect from contaminates. This is maybe what you are looking for http://www.3mventureshield.co.uk/paint-protection-film/

Thanks for that, looks interesting, might keep that in mind for the new car. Saves on the paint protection!

Would you not prefer to ride around with this level of protection?

Last week I ordered a V90. During negotiations I was offered as a teaser a "free" paint & interior trim protection package. I was told they would normally charge £499 for this package I declined it but tried to use the value of the offer against an additional Volvo option. At some point in the discussion it came out that the packae actually cost the dealer under £50.

Draw your own conclusions.
