Default Air recirculation button

I'm pretty sure my air circulation button doesn't work, and I keep steaming so I'm thinking I might not be drawing fresh air in. I've taken the glovebox out, is the picture below the motor for the air recirculation? If so, does it look open or closed?

ok, so it won't let me upload the pic...

Basically, the thing that I think is the motor is looking down the centre of the glovebox. The white arm off the motor is vertical.

Steaming up sometimes means your heater core is leaking/weeping. Check under the carpet by the radio, lift back the carpet as the underlay really soaks up coolant and the carpet almost seems dry on top.
