Default s80 brakes

This is something I should have done a long time ago.........I am an s80 owner and my lease is up in a couple of weeks. I have had a problem with my brakes since I have owned my car and I am wondering if anyone else out there has had the same problems. Unpredictably my pedal goes low and the brakes seem mushy. When this occurs the brakes dont grab gradually like they should, instead the pedal goes low and then it grabs all at once. Please if you have had the same experience email me at once at Biggunn163@aol.com I need to make a decision rather quickly if I should lease another s80. Time is at the essence! Thank you

Never had a problem with the brakes on my T6 going like this.

They seem to work fine.

Have replace front pads and adjusted handbrake, but otherwise no braking issues

Sorry i could not be of more help.

Regards

Richard

I can offer an AP big brake kit for these cars. 6 pot callipers, alloy bells, drilled & vented discs etc. Also drilled & grooved standard sized discs and EBC pads to suit. Have a look on my website www.Kalmar-Union.com or phone me on 020 8908 6030.

Hello

What model year is your S80? - It could it be possible that you are experiencing normal characteristics of the brake system (sometimes hard to believe!).

1 - ABS operation
2 - EBD operation (Electronic brake force distribution)
3 - EBA operation (Emergency brake assist)

If you feel that the brake performance is affected then I would advise you to take your vehicle to Volvo. They will inspect the brake system and inform you of any faults or explain any queries you have on the brake system functions/ characteristics.

Regards Chris.

I think you'll find this may be a master cylinder problem.

I had a similiar problem (Brakes pedal goes mushy until near the floor then its solid etc.) and replacing the master cylinder cured it.

Regards,

Karl.

It does sound like a fault - and it's one you shouldn't leave alone, since it could kill you and other people near you.

Get the car checked over pronto and get it sorted - after all, it's at no cost to you!

If you keep the car after the lease, I'd get the brake fluid changed on a regular basis; I do mine on the service, but then I have the 850R with its rubbish brakes and any help there is very welcome.
