Does and LPG car have to go through a different MOT than standard motors?

no just a regular mot is all thats required

The same MOT as any other car. If the car is presented for test running on LPG then the MOT tester should select LPG as the fuel type for teh exhaust gas test and the LPG system will be checked for leaks etc.

I've always found it best to present the car running on petrol. I think it simplifies things for the tester.

Makes no diffence at all for the tester. If you use the LPG system then the logical thing to do is present it for test on LPG.
