T5R suspension on a T5 and Air Con Q?
1) Would the suspension from a 850T5-R fit on a 97 V70 T5? How much does the V70 sport suspension lower a V70 (again on a 1997 model)?
2) My air-conditioning clonks when it is running? Suggestions please. If I have been running the car with the air con on. Turn the car off, then start it again it smells - does this mean it just needs a good servicing? Thanks Neil |

Ken, some V70 T5s had the lowered sports suspension fitted as a factory option - my T5 does. I would say that the lowered sports suspension on my V70 makes a significant difference in handling compared to my 850 T-5 which has standard suspension. I'll wait for the more knowledgeable people to talk about fitting T-5R suspension - the thing that would concern me is wear on the suspension as most T-5s will have high mileages by now, mind you my T5 has done nearly 140,000 miles on the original suspension and is still absolutely fine!

Over here I have to worry about the concept of original parts. Therefore a Volvo suspension (V70 or 850R/T5R) should be OK - if a little more pricey to source.
Any ideas on the air-con clunking |

The R Suspension is about 30mm lower than the Volvo sports addon for the T5.
As far as dampers if you have novimats(Estate) on the rear the R ones are shorter than the normal ones that come on the T5. The fronts are the same size. Hope this helps Ray |
