It is not about "cheaper" or "dearer" olis.
It is about the additives - friction modifiers etc. JWS3309 spec ATF is sufficiently different from Dexron-III that using the latter in an Aisin transmission will most likely destroy it or cause very expensive damage. My concern (which is why I stick to the "real thing") is how can an independent supplier organisation (which may or may not have the funding to do exhaustive tests) produce an ATF that simultaneously meet JWS3309 spec as well as the other potentially conflicting specs?
