Default Is this power steering fluid ok ?

Hi

Could someone please confirm this power steering oil would be ok to top up a 2007 Xc90 before I go to Halfords ?

http://www.halfords.com/motoring/eng...c-fluid-chf-1l

And does the whole system really only contain 1 litre ? I thought it would be more.

I've looked up old posts and the manual but wanted to double check.

Thanks

Thanks A lex.

Am I right in thinking that the important bit is if it says it's chf11s ?

Cheers.

Yes, CHF11s is the grade of the hydraulic fluid and is the 'important' bit.

As far as I know the OE volvo stuff from the dealer is about the same price, but I suppose they wont be open on a Sunday.

Ive read that chf11s is the same spec as wss m2c204-a as on the picture. I hope that's right, and other owners said they had used chf11s.

Can I ask another quick question Clan ? My pressure hose is weeping at the Union when the rubber hose joins to the solid pipe that goes in to the power steering pump.
I'm sure I've had a weep on other cars in the past. Is it anything to worry about and is it common ?

Thanks

Rob

True it doesn't specifically say CHF11s but that spec sheet does clearly state a hydraulic fluid, which CHF is and given the only alternative pas fluid that most will see is ATF, I suppose it's just easier to say CHF11s is the one to buy and to avoid putting in ATF at all costs.

It is CHF11s that is to be used.

Volvo are notoriously **** at printing out the correct specs.

They even managed to print ATF fluid in V70/S60 manuals when it should be Pentosin CHF11S that is used, leading to a huge amount of private individuals / garages and even dealers filling the cars with the wrong fluid over the years.

Any volvo >2001 uses CHF11S hydraulic fluid (sometimes called Pentosin), despite what any manual or spec sheet tells you otherwise.

Yes this does happen after some years , , there is an easy answer to cure it , just tighten the hose clip a turn .. If the clip won't move try a new clip ...

It's the silver part that holds the rubber hose onto the metal pipe that's weeping. Can this be tightened ? Here's a photo I found on line of a similar hose.

Thanks
