For a number of years Volvo have only had service intervals for boxes if used commercially as a taxi or if used to tow. Do you have any evidence for your statement, I.e take a XC90, 2010 model. |

he doesnt need to provide evidence - this is a V50 which has the AW55 5 Speed.
Granted there is also the optional 6 speed auto which can handle more torque

american v50 2009 service schedule says the following:
Volvo recommends changing automatic transmission fluid every 52,500 miles / 84,000 kilometers, only on vehicles used for towing, or when a message displays in the Instrument Panel Text Window

I'll check back what gearbox I have, meanwhile I found this video via search. Looks to be aiming for newer type box.
Volvo Service 2.0 - 17 - Replace oil and oil filter in Powershift transmission. They don't mention how much torque to use on the sump plugs. https://vimeopro.com/completemedia/v...video/29488374 Also what model ford focus does the v50 share it's platform, is there much cross over, does it mean cheaper brake calipers etc.. |

I clearly stated that it is a myth that the gearbox is sealed for life . Is this not correct? I also went on to say that sump dumps are my preferred method when changing the oil. I am fully aware that they do recommend oil changes for taxis or if using the vehicle for towing but nonetheless you still hear the phrase " Volvo say it's sealed for life when this is clearly not the case. Try not to be so aggressive when posting, you seem to make a habit of it and it's really not needed.

Not only is it America it also clearly states when towing or service required message pops up. At 68k the fluid in mine was a dark brown with a poor viscosity and changed much better after a change. Volvo DO state sealed for life unless used as a taxi or requiring a service and the overwhelming majority at 100k plus will never have had a change. I stand by my original advice thank you. |
