Unhappy Whistling sound?

When I am driving on quiet road services I get this kinda whistling sound. I can’t pin point what it is. It’s not the road surface, as I can here it though faintly on other parts of my journey.

Sound is there at any speed & in any gear. Also with my foot on the clutch and off the gas the sound is also there.

The only time it goes is when I press the breaks. I’ve had the breaks looked at when I got my tires replaced and they were happy with the condition of them…

My aircon is on the blink so might take the car to a dealer round the corner and get them to check both things out.

In the mean time does anybody know what the sound could be?

Hi,

Whistle is usually a result of wind.

Are your doors straight?
Mirrors Ok?
Do you have a sunroof?
Anything looking slightly out on the car? (Include larger than normal panel gaps)..

Des. . .

Yeah, this denfinatly isn't wind.

It's kinda got a pulse in the sound.

Man this is hard to describe.

try and getting a recording if you can - granted I bet it's quite quiet and may be hard to pick up.

Finally took it to a garage a few weeks ago and it turned out the whistling noise was the wheel bearings in the front left wheel hub. The dealer replaced the whole hub for about €300 including labor and vat.

I tell you one thing, the noise I recon was there for a long time, after I got it replaced it was like driving a new car, it was so quiet. Even without the whining sound, there was rough road sound, very annoying indeed, but since it took so long to become really loud I never really noticed it until it became a major sound.
