Please point me in the direction of these "other wrong assumptions".. To answer your above question though..They are typically filled to between 80% and 85% of their capacity to allow for thermal expansion..No where is there any mention of measuring an LPG cylinder using water.. Now "thermal expansion" hasn't been mentioned yet so would you like me to give you an explanation of that as well? |

I have merged all the relavent posts from the other thread into this original one so Rob and Dai may have constructive communications without all the other issues going on in the other one.

Advice for BananaKing as requested start thread.
Take car to qualified, Autogas registered (list on site)fitter to fullyinspect/repair/tick-off the installation and send the bill copy to a certain individual. You paid for a working LPG system to be installed. Any issues with car before, should be advised on pre-install check. Autogas registered installers will not touch a car with existing issues to avoid this kind of situation. Initial installer has legal obligation to ensure system is working, like you paid. If he is given chance to fix, without success, and claimed to be registered (we have proof on here), he has to meet the costs of your system being repaired to standard by a third party. At leastyou got fully checked and ticked-off system you know works and is safe meaning you can insure and drive as LPG vehicle. I looked into this with my registered BRC system and total cost for qualified inspection, service and ECU/emissions test, along with cert, is £120. Anual servicing after that is £60 as they know car already to their spec so less work. Seems the best option for one, final dip in pocket (which an honorable bloke will agree to refund) and safe kniwledge your system is safe, running and registered. Autogas are looking in to these systems being checked and registered as a matter of course for all vehicles and the IMI are on it legally, hopefully repeating scenarios like this, unfortunate one. Personally speaking I would take Dai to court, he has had enough chances to fix the problems but all he has to add is it is the owners fault..
He would then me legally obliged to sort his mess.. All this has the makings of most Indy Volvo mechanics..i.e HLM, RTMechanics and SWauto..None of these would accept responsibility of their actions either.. |

I've informed Dai that I will be taking the car to a Registered LPG Specialist here in Ireland, and have them do whatever they need to do to make the LPG install run correctly - either a new LPG install, or a modification of the current install. Dai has stated that he will pay for this. Either that, or I'm to return the car to Holyhead for the 3rd time, and he'll remove the entire system, and refund me. The latter option would be a huge hassle for me (in terms of £250 in ferry costs, and another week off work), so I will be looking for a registered/official LPG centre here in Ireland. If anyone could recommend an Irish-based LPG specialist (who would be more familiar with fitting LPG systems into an older car like mine), I'd very much appreciate it. I'll have to obviously take Dai's word on this that he will pay for this, but I'd have no qualms about going to the small claims court should that not transpire. Hopefully for everyone involved it won't come to that. |
