Default Automatic D5 driveshafts and front wheel bearings

Hey guys,

I had my V70 D5 serviced today, as it needed an oil change and I couldn't be arsed to do it myself, I had Volvo do it and at the same time, they had a look at a few things I thought needed attention.

Turns out, my car isn't worn out - at least I knew that prior! What I couldn't check when buying, was a few things:

1st: driveshaft boots (outer) on both shafts (FWD) need to be replaced as they are partially torn. Question is: what is the better choice? New driveshafts or just replace the outer CV joints (I have no idea how long they have been split and how much crap has gotten into them)? I was considering replacing the outer CVs but then: is there any special tool required? Normally the outer CV is held in place with a clip and you can normally drive the center screw in far enough to whack it out, but is that the case here or do the shafts need a special pulling tool to remove them from the shaft? Any recommendable CVs? Maybe something from SKF?

2nd: the front right brake disc is wobbly. Basically it sticks in two spots when turning. The workshop didn't investigate further, as I told them just to check and I'll repair - cheapskate DIY bloke here He said it can be either the brake disc being warped or the hub. The hub is one piece with the wheel bearing - not so much of a fun job to do. Is a warped hub common or a warped disc? I want to fit new pads and discs but don't fancy having to remove them again after fitting new ones 'cos the hub is warped.

Cheers

Damien
