Volvo C70 -2.4 fuel consumption
Hi everyone
Just wanting to ask a question as I am curious. I have always like the C70 coupe, but the biggest put off for me has been the fuel costs. The 2.4 engines seem to be decent for fuel around 32mpg combined. I was wondering if anyone could tell me their real-world economy from a tank and so on. Thanks in advance. My current car is listed at 36.2combined in comparison.

Hello,
Have a wee read here for real time figures, and this is a convertible: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=190835 Again, as you are well aware, depends on driving style, but that post shows just what is possible, and that was epic MPG! Cheers |

That is very impressive fuel figures from the 2.4T!
That sounds very similar to mine on a cruise. Is the 2.4 NA just as economical, or are the turbo cars the most efficient?

Well Tom, in my T5, according to the trip computer I averaged 29.2mpg across the whole 2300 miles I did. I can imagine yours would be a bit higher due to a lack of traffic?
According to the figures, the 2.4na car is even more economical! I'd also be tempted to think that the ME7 cars (late 98 on) are more economical than the earlier ones.

29.2 isn't bad though since you did have the T5 after-all and I can't imagine you were too gentle with the right pedal Dave

2.4 Fuel consumption
Hi there - I am using my C70 for a weekly set of commutes to London ( A46 / A1 /A14 / M11) and over the course of a 165 mile journey I can get 37 mpg (using cruise control 90% of the time).
My car is very economical for a 2.4 N/A but I am selling because I am putting 500+ miles on it every week and need a diesel so I can get 55mpg. Message me if you are interested - my car is a really good one. |

Hello,
I'd certainly be giving the T5 the beans, indeed the post 98 ME7 cars, no throttle cable, are probably a bit more economical. That is good figures for your '40' I'm sure a 2.4 C70 will be around the same on your wallet. Cheers Last edited by OvlovS70; Nov 1st, 2013 at 21:10. Reason: Poor typing |

On a steady constant speed drive I was getting about 39mpg so it's not that much worse than you state you get!

I have found my 2.4 T to be very fair on fuel if driven carefully. My best is the 43 mpg in the thread above.
Driving from cold to work which is about 6.5 miles from home mostly B roads I can achieve 30 mpg without too much trouble. Purely around town I am down to 26 mpg. Since the coast run (43 mpg) I used the car to drive around town (shopping and the like) for about a total of 13 miles. I then parked it in the garage where its sat waiting for me to finish the brakes and rear springs. I just went out to check the ave mpg (38.9) which is the pic below (not set the clock back yet). One thing to rem with the trip is that as soon as you turn on the ignition the mpg starts falling so this figure includes time spent back and forth getting the car settled in the garage before jacking it up.
