2005 XC90 2.4 D5 engine rattle near timing belt - Page 2

I have found out what makes the noise. It is the auxiliary belt. I took a closer look at it and exactly when it made the noise, the belt was vibrating so the noise is caused by the belt resonating. Next thing I found was some little damage on one side of the belt that is caused by a bad alternator pulley (it does wobble a bit). So that will be changed along with the belt and everything should be right as rain.

Don't delay in changing aux belt, rollers and tensioner as if it snaps it will almost certainly take out the cambelt and ruin the engine.
