The bases themselves may not be handed(left or right), it could be the attachments to it that make the difference in it's fitment..

The bases themselves are interchangeable, except that I vaguely recall that one of the lugs that bolts down to the floor had to be bent a bit to fit the slightly different floor profile.
My 1991 GL has 3 height positions at front and back, so the seat can be tilted as well as simply its height being alterable. Both driver and passenger seats have this. But I did once have a 240 that had a simpler passenger side seat base that was not adjustable, which I converted using a spare driver's base. |

Seat covers can be removed (washed) and exchanged, the foam can also be repaired (strengthened) if this is the problem.
