Default Throttle Body Linkage Rod

Seems my throttle linkage is in danger of popping off, giving me no throttle control. I attach a photo of this link. The issue I have is wear in the plastic cups at each end (these clip on two balls). These links are no longer available from Volvo. Has anyone managed to get a replacement for this part from anywhere?

If you look online at throttle linkage /ball joints you can view very similar products:~
You should be able to match the part.

I think someone in the past mentioned model ball links as an alternative. You just need to work out the dimensions of your existing linkage.

For example:

Thank you Liam, I'll have a measure up.

I was hoping to find something that has the little spring clip idea to hold on.

By the way, I see you have been on this Volvo website thingy for about as long as I have!

Hi, Volvo2, I guess you could say we are "time served" 😂

I know what you mean regarding the snap on clasp type. Maybe something like this? https://classiccarbs.co.uk/product/linkage-rod-52mm/

Perhaps send them an email with the dimensions of the linkage, the diameter of the ball and include the picture above. Surely they will have something to accommodate you.

Alternatively, you could heat up a darning needle to form a hole in the existing nylon socket so you can then fit a suitable piece of locking wire to prevent it popping off.

Yes, exactly that!

Thanks for the link - I'll give this a go.

I was also thinking about that modification you mentioned for the existing plastic ball sockets. Perhaps I'll try that if I can't find a suitable replacement.

Absolutely loads of these about to include eBay & Amazon sites:~
Classic cars have used rod linkage/ball joints since day one so suppliers to this market will have something that can be used and as good as the original item or better.
Many types & sizes exist.
Bob.

These look to be exactly what is needed, it's just a shame they don't specify the size of the balls these snap onto. I would have thought that fairly important in any application, or am I missing something?

As you can see they vary from 7, 8 to 13mm that's why I suggested sending them an email with the dimensions of your link and diameter of the ball. You may need a vernier callipers to measure correctly.
