Default XC90 [2018] Vodafone SIM problems

Hi folks

I have a Vodafone SIM in the XC90 with the idea that I can use the in built hotspot to allow the kids to stream in the back but I'm getting reliability problems with the connection.

I've found other threads on here where folks are having the same problem where maybe two in five times you start the car the connection actually works.

Vodafone claim there's nothing wrong, and the only way to fix it seems to be to kill the APN settings then let it reapply the same settings.

Has anyone else had this problem? It's driving me nuts.

Thanks

Well I am not sure it is a Vodafone issue. It seems that after the latest software update 2.0 at service, most 2018 SPA vehicles are loosing the automatic APN settings and you need to reset them manually each time you start the car.

If you have had a recent service on your car, most probably this is the problem and it is related with Volvo and not Vodafone.

I don't know if it's any help, but I have a MY2019 V90 with a vodafone SIM and it's always AOK.

Wouldn't say its solely a Vodafone issue. As above, I have been experiencing a similar glitch when pairing with the car since new year. Very frustrating.

The more gadgets there are, the more fussy and potentially frustrating things become. A friend has a Range Rover Velar and he has bought two SIM cards for it and has never got it to work. He bought the same cards as I do, data SIM from 3. Mine just pops in the slot in the Volvo and just works flawlessly out of the box with zero settings to input. I'm on my third card; an initial 3GIG and now on my second 12GIG.

Likewise, I am on Vodafone and initially thought it was Vodafone's fault and asked for a new Sim only to find it was the car's software after a Nov 18 upgrade.
This is a known fault that Vodafone are working on.................this thread explains all.
