Since the conversion I've done some further research on the 164E and managed to find a couple of been done with traditional mixers. The problem with doing it that way apartfrom teh backfireing is the mixer had to very slim and the slim mixer need to have a very small venturi to pull enough gas at higher revs. This chokes the engine and does cause a loss in power. I found one that was running a injection system but they had dumped the Bosch D jet and fitted mega squirt (stand alone engine managment).

I'm sure this will be the only 164 so far running a LPG system that is taking it trigger signal from each of the petrol injectors. The 164 bosch D jet does not switch the earth to the petrol injectors like 99% of fuel injection systems but switches the life feed. Conventional gas injection systems just can not read the signal given off the D jetronic ecu.

Mike I nevr had time to take photo's of teh completed installation so If you get a chance to take a few snaps that would be great. As you are a first with a multi point LPG system on a 164e I think a article for teh driver magazine would be a good idea.

I'm sure the problem with the ignition will be boiling down to a relay as one you pull the terminal off the earth and replace it everything stays off then. I'd try pulling the terminals off each relay untill you find teh one causing it.

On another note I would think your gear lever mod could be of interest to other 164 owners on how to make teh early 240 fit.
