Default Air intake preheater hose

Sounds sophisticated but in reality it’s a piece of corrugated hose that goes from a cowl around the exhaust manifold to the air intake. It is switches by a wax thermostat. After a while the engine movement shears the pipe and it falls apart. Having tried many options I finally found a fix from CEF (City Electrical Factors) who supply corrugated ducting in 1 m lengths. It’s steel and unwinds so it needs tin snips to cut to length but does fit tightly on the 50mm dia ports.

I think this is the one I used. You can buy a single metre length. Please check though

A bit late here, but I repaired the original ducting/ pipe using self adhesive aluminium tape bought from Lidl. May help someone else.

1) the carb does not freeze on LPG (the vaouriser does)

2) the change in air temp messes with the fuel mixture

I used cardboard and electrical wire to fix mine on my 1980 1.4 back in the early 90s. Carb freezing is definately a thing at 70mph around 0C. On slowing down it recovered.
