Brakes: S60 2002 2.0T brake servo removal

Tried searching for this with no luck. Has anyone succeeded in removing a brake servo from a RHD car without lowering the engine/transmission?

I am getting the hissing sound from the pedal and suspect that the seal is failing.

Mine is hissing too. I spent a couple of hours searching for tutorials.
It can be done in situ, no need to remove the brake booster.
There is a Polish seller on eBay who sells the seal kit.

I ordered a seal kit today. I am gonna need a 40 mm (inner diameter) pipe in order to push the seal back into place:

Thanks for the links. Having had a look at the seal under the dash, I think it will be very difficult to do due to the limited amount of space. I'll be very interested to know how you get on!

Was going to do mine from inside, and even got the seal. But it stopped hissing in the hot weather last summer and has been quite since. Wondered if it reseated somehow. Don’t expect it to last forever, but won’t be breaking my back doing it if I don’t need to 😂

Have you managed to do this yet?? I'm not going to attempt it - gave up and booked it in a garage.

I'm waiting for warm weather to try it without removing the servo. However we need a plastic pry tool to pull the seal without touching the white plunger - critical. From the Youtube video, it looks like the seal comes out quite difficult and I'm sure the space near the pedals will not help. Use only a good silicone or PTFE grease

The seal isn't hard to remove compared to fitting in the new seal.

I removed the old seal on a spare/scrap unit while on my table.
I just had to use some pliers to pull it out.
However refitting the new seal is the really difficult bit.

Partly as the replacement seal from Poland is significantly thicker than the OEM one which which is much, much harder to fit.
I ended up damaging mine trying to fit it.

In the end I have ordered another seal from Poland which I will get a mechanic to fit to my servo, but he will remove the servo from the car to fit it.

Excellent information. The seal I ordered is the URO one and it's black (instead of the red one). I hope it fits better, the URO video shows no difficulties while fitting it. Worth mentioning, the pipe they use has an end where it's cut at a slight angle, they use the resulting 'bump' on this end, to press it a small section of the seal at a time - it only puts pressure on a section of the seal.. then they rotate the pipe and apply pressure on the adjacent section of the seal, and so on. In the URO video, removing the old seal looks like it takes quite some force with their pry tool. It is possible however they had in there a seal in good condition because older seals get softer - basically they melt, so should be easier to pull from there. I'll have at hand some pry tool like in the URO video, but I'll try first to pull mine with a long nose thin pliers see if it works, and I'll make sure to undo the hose at the booster to release any residual vacuum inside.

can i ask what you get quoted to remove servo and replace seal please? i think i have the same problem.. I'm near reading too, can he do a buy one get one free job?
