Have you primed the fuel system to remove air in the pipes by turning the ignition on for 20 seconds then off again about 10 times BEFORE trying to start the car?

You've got air and no fuel in the system. Where did you disconnect the lines to start with?Filter end I presume. You've got a couple of choices with these. 1.If the fuel filter has been bled dry during your spannering, you need to fill it as it holds a pint or so of fuel. 2.If you can't be bothered to fill it then cranking the hell out of it WILL eventually start if your battery survives that long. 3.Squirt some Easy start ,Brake cleaner, carb cleaner or even deodorant down the intake manifold ,crank it over and it will go then cut out.repeat until it runs. Wot he said above, or if it's manual tow it in third gear at about 30mph and it will go. If you've ever had a Mondeo estate with the ludicrous filter at the back, then it's the only way to start them if you're home servicing...
