Offside Drive Shaft
Hey guys, did post this in the 850 area, thought i'd plop it here aswell as not much response.
to cut a long story short my twin brother has an 850R, and sadly the lower arm failed and pulled apart the drive shaft. Now obviously this Visco drive means the drive shaft is different to the normal models, but is this the same as any of the 850/70R models with a visco, and most importantly, where the merry feck do you get them from? we only seem to be able to source regular drive shafts at the moment. any advise gratefully received Joe |

I replied to your original post saying there was an auto in my local breakers, complete with shafts and that I'd remove to offending item and send it south if it helped you out. Alas, car has since been crushed.
Try e.bay or keep an eye on the classifieds for another breaking. |

Sorry Dave. I appreciate your help and offer. I was really after a new part and Volvo want 360 + vat. Guess that's the only option really as nowhere else seems to get them.

No worries. I was in a similar situation... needed an n/s/f shaft for the TDi and really struggled to find them new and not via the dealers. Volvo wanted a horrific price so I had to settle for a used one, ironically from a completely different model but it did the job. Have you checked some of the suppliers on ebay or even the likes of GSF or Euro Car Parts?

yeah, no one seems to understand the the fact that it has a splined sleeve around the drive shat for the visco drive. Pain in the backside but because the type of part that it is i think it really needs a new part.
On the brightside it was only that part that was damaged, everything else got away pretty lightly. |

We scrapped an 850 AWD only last night and the shaft you needed was still attached, if only we had seen this thread earlier - Mike
