Intermittent 'Anti Skid Service Required' - V70
Hi All,
I have started getting the 'Anti-Skid Service Required' warning show up but it then goes off after a little while. It seems to come on for no apparent reason, makes absolutely no difference to the handling and then usually when I next start the car, the message has gone. I've read loads of posts on this forum but not had any definitive answer for an intermittent message. I have a standard OBD fault reader and there are no codes when the message is active. I don't have a VIDA reader though. My guess is it's a faulty sensor, but could anyone hazard a guess as to which one? I'm considering selling the V70 soon but am not comfortable selling it knowing there is this issue even if it is of no concern. |

total shot in the dark, maybe a wheel speed sensor? or more likely a corroded / cracked reluctor ring on the end of the drive shaft.. it's a common issue
https://www.jandrcvjoints.co.uk/volv...sor-ring/ABS06 possibly if intermittant maybe a wire brushing and cleanup might stop it? but by the time you done all the disassembly it'd be daft not to replace it really bear in mind of course that is a guess and as you already know the only real way to be sure is by plugging VIDA in Last edited by stuart bowes; Sep 6th, 2022 at 11:24. |

Had the same problem, it would come on at random, then a week would go by before it came on again. However, I was able to read the codes at one point which pointed me to the rhs sensor. I checked this by unplugging it at the engine and checking with a multimeter. It was in the Mega Ohms which effectively is an open circuit.
It's easy to check the fronts. Not sure how easy it is to check the rears though. |

Without VIDA you're running blind. We get the same thing intermittently - 2 messages simultaneously and VIDA tells me it is a signal to/from the ABS motor not being received. Sounds like a poor contact but I haven't got around to looking yet. If anyone has suggestions I would be grateful to know where to look.
