steering rack noise - Page 2

you asked if anyone has rebuilt a steering rack for your volvo? well i have but not just one at the moment i have rebuilt about 5000 volvo racks in the past 6 years and about 2000 pumps all volvo .the V70 is the biggest promblem at the moment rust on the bar wrecks them.No steering rack is expensive to recon it all depends what car it goes on they all cost the same there abouts to do. if any body has a problem just get in touch ill help where i can.

Hello cobra,

I will be in touch regarding the rack, i replaced mine with a breakers one, from a high milage car, so i may need help soon, as I suspect it wont last!

Hi Sam, If the rack came from a high milage car, it may have been replaced or reconditioned by that cars owner.

Hi,

I have noticed on my 940 that the steering is a shade "noisy".
It has its off days.

However, there is, I suspect a leak from the rack somewhere.
Volvos advise was to leave it unless the car failed the MOT!

It needs a top-up every couple of weeks or so. SO I shall check the bleeding method to see if that improves things, but this is something that will need to be resolved soon, I suspect.

If cobra has some spare time in the future I may ask that the whole system be checked/reconned.
