If it is just sticking then a little wd40 may get it working and clean it. It will do no harm.

What engine do you have?
I took my idle control valve off cleaned it up with redex and cotton buds, then soaked it in redex over night and re cleaned with redex and cotton buds! Looked like new and solved the dodgy idle. If you are getting a new one make sure the part numbers match as they aren't the same on all the 400 series engines - one of them is shared with the vauxhall omega aswell! |

idle control valve
hello , new to the forum, just recently changed my idle valve 'm' reg 440 2.0si
it is located just in front of the inlet manifold, they can be cleaned but it is wise to check the resistance through it too. they can be found on saab's volvo 740 and 940 depending on engine sizes and contrary to popular belief mine ended with 516 (0 240 ... 516) but i successfully swapped for a different one, cannot remember the numberoff the top of my head. hope this helps |
